The Lincolnshire village of Binbrook lies 8 miles north east of the racing town of Market Rasen. However, in the 18th century the village held its own races when a meeting took place on 13th June 1762. Unusually the meeting was staged on a Sunday on Swinhope Park near the Grimsby and Orford Roads. The crowds turned up and were waiting for their sport when Mr Goodhand decided to forfeit his stakes and allow Violet to walk over.
